Gianfranco Andia, PhD
Gianfranco Andía joined Multiwave from Primo1D, a RFID application start-up based in Grenoble where he led a team in RFID engineering and project management around a patented technology which integrates RFID into a yarn for the apparel retail industry.
Prior to that, Gianfranco was a research engineer at the Grenoble Institute of Technology where he also earned a PhD in Optics and Radio Frequency Identification. During his PhD, he pioneered work on new applications for RFID communication systems in collaboration with a consortium of French IT companies working on RFID innovations. Prior to his research journey in France, he was a communications engineer on the IT industry in Spain where he participated in the deployment of IP networks for a virtual telephone carrier.
Gianfranco is an expert in microwave and radiofrequency ID with a focus on ultra low power technologies such as Wireless Power Transfer (WPT), passive RFID or Electromagnetic Energy Harvesting.
Gianfranco is an author of more than 50 technical papers in conferences, letters and journal. He also holds several patents to his name and has contributed to book chapters and authored a book on non-linearities in passive RFID. He was a keynote speaker of several international symposia and an expert-reviewer for international scientific committees including IEEE (RFID journal, Internet of things journal, MTT, MWCL, Sensors), IET (MA&P), Cambridge (WPT).
